Spoonbowl

Accessibility

Spoonbowl aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at level AA. This statement was written on .

What is in place

  • Every page has a skip link to the main content, plus header, navigation, main and footer landmarks.
  • Each page loads as a full document with its own title and one main heading.
  • Keyboard focus is always visible.
  • Search is a combobox you can drive from the keyboard, and it announces the number of results to screen readers.
  • Cook mode announces step changes, and its ingredient checklist uses real checkboxes.
  • Animations are reduced when your system asks for reduced motion.
  • The theme follows your system setting, and you can switch to light or dark.
  • Every .astro file is linted with the strictjsx-a11y rules before it ships.

Known limitations

  • Recipe text and photos come from DummyJSON, which provides no image descriptions. Photos next to a recipe name are marked as decorative; elsewhere the alt text is the recipe name.
  • Recipes are only available in English.
